Privacy - collection
and use of information - TennisScores.Net (Effective June 2002)
We are committed to protecting
your privacy
At TennisScores.Net we respect
your right to privacy. We are bound by new sections of the Commonwealth Privacy
Act 1988, which set out a number of principles concerning protection of your personal
information.
Your personal information
Personal information is gathered by your controlling association/club/body and stored
on TennisScores.Net for the purposes of managing tennis competitions. This includes
your name, email, address details, Date of Birth, telephone contact details and
an ITN (International Tennis Number) if you have one.
Your personal information & Controlling
Bodies
As a member of a Tennis Association,
Club or League, your CB (controlling body) uses this stored information to manage
competition seasons including the ability to notify you via email - assuming you
have an email account - or normal mailing services about team selections, changes
of venue, general communication etc.
Your personal information &
TennisScores.Net
When you visit our site, the system collects general information about your visit.
This includes date and time of your visit, pages accessed, your server address and
total time of your visit. This information does not identify you personally
and is used purely for statistical purposes or application fault finding unless
there are attempts to hack the site whereupon law enforcement actions may require
further investigation.
If you register or make electronic
contact with TennisScores.Net by using links on the site, then personal information
you submit such as name, address,
email and phone numbers is used only as a way of contacting you and establishing
that the contact details we have received are bona fide. These links provide
a way for an interested visitor to contact us with the possibility of becoming a
client who eventually makes use of our system.
TennisScores.Net may on occasions use of
stored information for the purposes of providing you with promotional material from
the sponsors of controlling bodies or other third parties. However, we will
distribute the said material on behalf of these parties and will not
give out personal information to third parties. If you do not want to receive
such material, please notify your Association, Club or League administrator and
ask them to remove (uncheck) you from their list or do so yourself when accessing
your personal information.
You have access to your information
As a member of an association, logging into TennisScores.Net with your email, Name
and PIN will see you directed to your Team's page. Your personal details are listed
below your team whereupon you may edit and save any changed or incorrect details
except for your name and ITN - that information needs to be changed by your administrator.
Cookies
TennisScores.Net does set cookies. A cookie - which is a text message - is
sent from our server to your computer when you first visit. The way the WWW
works is that after you have received a web page from any site, you are NO LONGER
connected to that site even though it seems so because you are viewing the page.
When your browser makes a request for another page, the server has to go through
the entire process of establishing who you are again. However, the text from
your cookie can be sent every time your browser request another page and this bypasses
the need for the server to ask you for information each time.
If you are a member of a CB who uses
our site, TennisScores.Net requires cookies to be set so that you can maintain your
Association/League details and subsequently process your match and payment data. If you are a player/interested visitor
who is visiting TennisScores.Net, then cookies are not required to be set.
If you are a REGULAR visitor, then allowing a cookie to be set means you don't have
to enter country/state information each time you visit. If you visit some other
site that is linked to TennisScores.Net, then that site may set its own cookie.
In most cases your browser can be configured
to allow/disallow cookies or notify you each time an attempt is made to set a cookie.
See the Help menu of your browser. Alternatively,
third party software exists which can also provide you with that control.
